Teomare 'The Cook'
Art by Unknown
Major Arcana: Emperor
Minor Arcana: Three of Pentacles
Song: The Cave - Mumford and Sons
"Look, I don't expect you to like everything I make but at least be able to tell me why."
Like many, Teomare grew up hungry. Food was scarce in his home village and he was the youngest of several children. However, those early years are miles behind him, in both mind, spirit and reality. Like many young men, Teomare dreamt of becoming a famous soldier, never having to hunger again. Yet, his weak, underdeveloped body couldn't hold up to the rigors of a soldier's life. So, he often found himself stuck on kitchen duty for those who could. This repeated till his assignment was in cooking all the time. Since then, the starry eyed boy has grown into the battlefield veteran of countless kitchens, having survived with only his knives and wits.
Beyond his simple appearance is an old soldier who can't imagine doing anything but what he is. Outside of his duties as head chef of the Company you can find him speaking with the traders that come through. Always on the search for new recipes and ideas on food. He'll gleefully trade a tale or two to put him on the trail of new food. So far he has an even split of wins and losses to Aldebran in games. His wins usually on the precondition that he'll get some rare ingredient.
While being head chef for a bunch of mercenaries would sound like something one would give to a sycophant, it means something greater since every Company fighter is expected to be self sufficient if isolated. Thus, basic preparation and sanitation of foods is taught as much as swordplay, even including the Commander. Teomare is often in charge of the baggage train when the company must deploy in major battles. He's known to be happiest in the Den's kitchen testing with the ever grateful Ru'Sala.
